Description: 1897 July 26, printed envelope from Foochow to the United States, sent from the United States Consulate and with their 'Fuchau' dater of despatch, franked on the obverse with pair large surcharge 2 1/2mm second printing '5c on 5ca' yellow and large surcharge on 3rd print, 1 1/2mm '10c on 12ca' orange-yellow, tied by FOOCHOW dollar chop cancellation in brown, carried to Shanghai dollar chop arrival backstamps; passed to the Japanese Post Office, franked on the obverse with Japan 10s, tied by c.d.s. of despatch Aug 2, Yokohama transit, Philadelphia arrival of Sep 30 /
Note: Double rate to the United States of America via the Japanese Post Office in Shanghai (10 sen). Fully prepaid 20 cents in Foochow.
Canc.: black dollar chop "FOOCHOW 26 JUL 97" and Japanese "SHANGHAI 2 AUG 97 I.J.P.O.", (back: Chinese "SHANGHAI 28 JUL 98", Japanese "YOKOHAMA 10 8 97" and US "TAKOMA AUG 29" and "PHILADELPHIA 3 SEP")
Condition: Some envelope faults and '10c on 12ca' small fault at the top.
