Description: 1899 May 5, envelope from Tientsin to the United States, franked on the obverse with pair large surcharge '4c on 3c' red in combination with CIP 2c scarlet, tied by Pa-Kua cancellation in blue and manuscript 'x', Tientsin dollar chop of despatch, carried to Shanghai, arrival backstamp of May 12; passed to the Japanese Post Office, franked on the obverse with Japan 10s, tied by framed I.P.O. in blue and c.d.s. of despatch May 13, transit marks of Yokohama, San Francisco and arrival at Philadelphia, re-addressed to New York /
