Description: 1881 Nov 21, postal stationery card Japan 2s from Peking to the United States, franked with 3ca that was presumably added to pay internal postage (traces of the seal show's a different stamp has been put on at a later date), tied by oval PEKING seal cancellation, I.G. Customs Peking c.d.s. of Nov 21, Customs c.d.s. of Tientsin Nov 23 and Shanghai Dec 1, then passed to the Japanese Post Office, mark of Dec 14, transit Yokohama of Dec 22 and San Francisco Jan 10, Vermont arrival mark of 1882 Jan 10 /
Note: A unique postal staionery usage. Single postcard rate to the United States, via the Japanese Post Office in Shanghai, 2s fully prepaid in Peking (3 candarins).
